What are the odds? Two assignments, from two different publications, within three days of each other mere blocks from my parent's home where I grew up.
The first shoot, just two days earlier, led me through the hallways of my former high school. However, Investing in a Stranger's Retirement: for The Wall Street Journal sent me down a familiar, but, different path. My assignment brought me to a street where, as a child, I mowed yards all summer to buy my second skateboard. I was 12.
This go around I was making pictures and earning my keep as a photojournalist. Life is still good in the hood!
